Vampire Wars Tips. This is a guide for new players who are just starting out and it will walk you through the 1st stage of your undeath.
selecting your character type
when you first create your character you will have a choice of modern, noble, or primeval character types.
I would typically suggest choosing noble at first so that you can get all of your abilities faster and biuld-up a nice blood flow, you can later change your character type with favor points. modern is good for replenishing energy faster so that you can lvl up your character at a faster rate, but remember that lvl has very little to do with combat and leveling for the sake of leveling is just going to get you into trouble.
growing your clan
your first priority should be growing your clan. you can use one offensive, one defensive, and one mevement ability for every clan member that you have, so the more clan members that you have the more abilities you can use. the maximun amount of abilities for each category is 501 (500 clan members + you). that doesn’t mean you have to stop increasing your clan once you get to 500, since every clan member you have can spin the blood magic wheel increasing the chance of blood magic being cast on you.
leveling
every time you level you will receive 5 stat points that you can use to increase your attributes. every attrubite exept rage costs one skill point; rage costs 2. where you allocate those points depends on how you want to play the game. if you are interested in leveling and doing mission then allocate most into energy, but save some for deffense (just because you may not want to attack others doesn’t mean they wont attack you). if you want to do a lot of fighting then allocate at least 2 points into attack or defense per lvl (more if you want to be stronger than average) and at least 1 point into rage every 5 lvls. health is a personal pereference; I would not recommend allocating a lot of points there until you get to lvl 70 (that will be covered shortly), at that point you can make a decision and allocate more into health if you think it will suit your playing style.
New Mission Mastery
there are 3 tiers for each mission, some missions will drop loot that you will need for later missions. in order to find out which mission drops the loot item you need click the link and it will take you to that mission lvl and highlight the mission in red.
upgrading abilities
we can now upgrade the basic purchasable abilities once per day (as many times as you want with favor points). there are 3 tiers and with each upgrade the ability become more powerful, but beware becuase each lvl of upgrade the upkeep also increases. each ability follows the following formulae while upgrading:
stats:
original+5+10*2
so for impervious it would be:
original: 4A 8D
tier: 9A 12D
tier2: 19A 22D
tier3: 38A 44D
upkeep:
for everything except flight and mist form: original*10*4*3
for flight and mist form: original*100*4*3
let’s use impervious once again:
original upkeep: -400
tier1: -4,000
tier2: -16,000
tier3: -48,000
for flight:
original: 1,800
tier1: 180,000
tier2: 720,000
tier3: 2,160,000
so as you can see the new abilities are very powerful, but they will cost you. here is a very good thread that explains how many of each minion you will need to support 501 of each of the most powerful fully mastered ability.
level 70
levels 1-69 are a training groung to prepare you for the real game. during this time you must get a full clan, equip them with the best abilities you can get, allocate your stat points according to the playing style you have chosen for yourself, and then brace for impact. during the 1st 20 levels you will be fighting vamps the same lvl as you, once you pass lvl 20 you will be fighting within 10 levels of your level, then once you get to lvl 70 you will be fighting everyone 70 and above. this is why it is very important to have a full clan, if you don’t you will stand out on the combat page and will likely be attacked more often.
combat
this is just an overview, for specific details please see the combat thread. you can fight other vampires from the combat page; when selecting your target take a notice of the size of their clan, their level, and their skill rating (this is fairly reliable in the beginning, but will become less so in the higher levles). when you attack some one close to your skill rating and win your skill rating will go up, if you win again some one with a much higher rating than yours you will see a much larger increase. once your opponent’s health goes bellow 20 you will no longer have the option of attacking them again, if your health should ever get bellow 20 while attacking you will get a message saying you cannot attack when your health is bellow 20.
Leaderboard
as you play you will notice distinguished vampires on the leaderboard. there are 5 categories that will get a vampire onto the leaderboards: Knockout Count, Win Count. Head Count, blood amount and rating. blood amount, rating and the win count is pretty self explanatory. the knockout count is how many vamps you have killed and the head count is how many bounties you have collected, so the knockout count includes the head count. you will not see your head count on your stat page only the knockout count.
dying and the hitlist
once your health reaches 0 you will die, loose 6 xp and your deaths count will go up by one; this can happen in a number of ways: you are attacked from the combat page and the last hit deals more that 20 points of damage, you attack some one when your health is close to 20 and the last hit you deal to your opponent also deals more that 20 damage to you, you are placed on the hitlist, which removes the 20 health restriction. during the course of playing you may want to place another vamp on the hitlist, you can do so by going to their vamp page and selecting “add to hitlist”, the minimum bounty price is based on your income, but you can raise it if you want. once you place some one on the hitlist they will recieve a notification in their news feed, and will appear on your hitlist page; once some one claims the bounty you will recieved a notification in your news feed letting you know who claimed the bounty. you cannot hitlist a vamp under 20 health, you also cannot hitlist a vamp who is already hitlisted.
collecting bounties
sometimes when you look on your hitlist page you will see vampires with a bounty on their head, sometimes it will be a very large bounty that you will be tempted to collect. the safest way to go about collecting a bounty it first clicking on the vamp’s name and checking their level, after doing so you may not think it’s worth the risk. if you still want to attack even though you will lose, keep in mind that they likely have more health than you have rage and unless they are not paying attention the chances of you collecting that bounty are pretty slim, while the chances of that vampire retaliating are not. when you do attack some one on the hitlist and loose, whether or not you manage to claim the bounty the vamp you attacked is likely to attack you back; this is to be expected. please remember that this is a role playing game and most people beleive that a bloodthursty vampire isn’t simply going to let you walk away after loosing a fight.
final advice
the most important thing to remember is that behind every java script character is a real life human being, just because you cannot see them doesn’t mean you can treat them them any differently then if you were talking to them face to face. in this game you are playing a role of a bloodthursty vampire, but please don’t forget that once you log off you are still a human being. now go out there and have fun.
Happy Hunting ^0^

The formulas are correct, but calculation is a little off, for impervious it would be:
original: 4A 8D
tier1: 9A 13D
tier2: 19A 23D
tier3: 38A 46D
Additional note on upkeep if initially zero:
original: 0
tier1: -100
tier2: -400
tier3: -1200
