The mystery chests open over time. Click on yes for the email, then maybe a few days later you will see a mystery chest on the left of the screen over the send/ask for fruit/energy. Click it and it will say that you left unopened treasure on another island, and you will get what was in the locked chests. No, I never got the email, either

Ladytaurus83, that chest is a different thing. You get it after your friends have sent you something from your wish list.
I guess Zynga haven’t decided what the mystery chest should contain yet – they only wanted out e-mails!

If it’s like petville and mafia wars the only way i’ve ever gotten the email thing to work is ask one day and then let some time go by like a whole day and then request again. sometimes it takes 2-3 tries and if you don’t get the email they still let you open it eventually. I don’t know about treasure isle though as i just started playing a couple of days ago.

I finally got it today and it contained a small garden plot!. you can only get that from volcanoe or buy it with 100 isle cash. (about a 20.00 u.s. dolar value.)
